The primary ministry of the Director of Music Ministry & Organist is to provide leadership, knowledge and skill to enhance the worship experience to the glory of God. 

Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church (TCLC) is seeking to fill a PT Director of Music Ministry & Organist position.  This combined position requires an accomplished organist/pianist who can also direct our adult choir.

The ideal candidate is energetic and enthusiastic about leading a vibrant and sacred music ministry with the choir, congregation and youth.

Roles & Responsibilities

Worship Service:

·         Play Sunday services (9:00 am) and any special worship services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Mid-Week Lenten Services, etc.)

o   Service includes prelude, hymns and 1-2 choir anthems.

·         Coordinate worship music with our Pastor and Worship Committee

·         Work with staff to schedule supply musicians for funerals and weddings, as needed.

o   Funerals and weddings are also opportunities for additional income.

·         Work with staff to schedule supply musicians to fill in during vacations

·         Arrange for and work with professional musicians when necessary.

·         Encourage and work with other musicians in the congregation.

Choir:

·         Schedule and lead rehearsals with the adult choir

o   Choir rehearsals are currently:

§  Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 pm (excluding summer months mid-June through mid-August)

§  Sundays, 8:30 am (before service)

·         Instruct vocalists

·         Embrace and introduce new worship music

·         Develop a youth choir to perform occasionally during services and encourage teen involvement in the adult choir.

NOTE:  Mid-Week choir rehearsals are open to be changed, as needed.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

·         Degree in music preferred

·         Proficient Choir Director, Experienced organist/pianist

·         Ability to provide a variety of musical approaches to different forms of worship (i.e. traditional, modern, alternative)

·         Fluent in traditional music

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Instruments

The organ is an Ahlborn-Galanti SL250 electronic organ. The grand piano is a 5'-10" Kawai model KG-2 with an ebony cabinet. It is in very fine condition with a beautiful tone, and is well maintained. There is an electronic Yamaha digital electronic piano in our music room that we use for practice.

Additional Notes

As noted above, weddings and funerals are an opportunity to increase your income.  You will also enjoy the use of TCLC for private lessons and concerts (at no cost).

JOB SUMMARY:

South Church in Andover is a vibrant and diverse congregation with nearly 700 members and a strong tradition of choral and instrumental music.  We are seeking a gifted and experienced musician to lead our growing music program.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for creatively leading worship with Adult, Children’s, and Handbell Choirs; and draw on the talents of the many musicians and instrumentalists in our congregation.  This full-year position is 30 hours per week, except during 2 summer months when it is 10 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Report to Senior Pastor to design and develop music for weekly worship services, as well as
church-related activities such as weddings and funerals. 

·         Participate in pastoral staff meetings and fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by Senior Pastor.

·         Build, lead, and direct the Sanctuary Choir.  Select music, conduct weekly rehearsals, and conduct the Choir for all services including Easter (2 services), Christmas Eve (3 services) and Maundy Thursday.

·         Direct the Children’s Choir, Handbell Choir, and a folk ensemble among other small groups.

·         Attract an increasing pool of gifted musicians who desire to be involved in worship – to include contemporary music, instrumentalists, and solo musicians.

·         Prepare and administer the annual music budget.  

·         Maintain the music library, which includes over 900 choral and 75 handbell anthems.

·         Oversee the maintenance of our Bozeman Organ (tracker, 3 manuals, 36 stops), 8 pianos, and 4-octave Schulmerich hand bells.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Strong keyboard skills; organ and piano.

·         Accomplished directing and leadership skills.

·         Excellent people, leadership, and organizational skills with a proven record of working well within a team.

·         An engaging and gracious personality.

·         Ability to work joyfully and energetically with members of the South Church community.

·         Commitment to the mission and vision of South Church.

·         A degree in music, worship, or a related field is preferred. Three or more years of experience as a worship leader in a church of 300 or more is also preferred but not required.

·         Physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs to the choir loft, to stand for long periods of time directing children and adults, and to carry instruments and music.


COMPENSATION:

·         Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.

Music Director/Organist wanted for First Congregational Church of Walpole, NH, UCC. Basic responsibilities include providing music for Sunday worship and special holidays, directing regular adult vocal and bell choirs, and planning services with the Pastor.
 
Our organ is custom built with pipes and console in the balcony. It has 11 ranks, which, with unification and duplexing, expands to 31 stops. The piano is a Yamaha baby grand in excellent condition. Our 4-octave English hand bell set has been recently refurbished.
 
The church has 150+ members. Part-time hours are 18 to 22 per week. A competitive salary in the high 20's will be offered to the ideal candidate, commensurate with skill, experience, and education.

ORGANIST & DIRECTOR  sought for combined parish.  Seeking a candidate with advanced music performance skills and experience directing a choir.  BA in Music or at least 2 years related experience and/or Training.  Previous experience with Episcopal services is preferred but not required.   Successful candidate will audition with the Priest and the search committee.  The successful candidate will play two Sunday Services: 

8:45 AM Holy Eucharist at Trinity Church, 200 High Street Hampton, AND
10:30 AM Holy Eucharist at Christ Church, 1035 Lafayette Rd. Portsmouth.

Choir rehearsals for Trinity follow the early morning Eucharist and at Christ Church the rehearsals are Thursdays from 7-8:30 PM.  The choirs do combine when possible for Holy days such as Christmas and Easter. 

Extra Services during Christmas, Epiphany Feast of Lights, Lent, Holy Week, and other services that are scheduled, including Weddings and Funerals.  

Trinity Church has a 1996 Rodgers  Electronic 2 Manual and Pedal, with 28 Stops. 

Christ Church has a 2 Manual and Pedal Hook and Hastings Pipe Organ (Data from OHS Archives) Both churches have Piano's as well. 

The church is offering  a salary of $ 15 - 18,000 for a Ten Hour work week.  Four weeks of paid vacation; three weeks of sick leave; and 2 professional days off per year.

FOR SALE:  My home organ, a Yamaha Electone, Model E-3, in good working condition. It has 2 manuals (61 keys each) plus a 2-octave pedal board (© - c).  The  wood cabinet has a roll-down keyboard cover, a walnut finish, and is in excellent condition.

Dimensions: 50 ¾" wide, 45" deep (includes pedals, which detach for moving), and 40 ½" high (+8" for music rest, 29" wide). Included are the bench, the Service Manual, the Guide manual, and the “E-3 Sound Effects manual with all stops.”  The speakers are built in. There is a head-phone outlet. The bench is 40" wide, 14" deep, and 23 ¾" high.

It would be useful for an organist, an organ student, or use in a small hall, a music rehearsal room, or for home entertainment.
I purchased it second-hand from Darrell's music store in 1987. It has been maintained by Ron Richards, organ technologist, Ronrichs@comcast.net, Lowell, MA.   I am asking $300.00 plus buyer to pick up at my home.   

Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested. Having an organ at home has been valuable for preparing service music. Frank and I plan to move to smaller quarters sometime this spring.  Pictures available on request, use above contact information.
